Monday, Oct 28, 2019 from 7:00 - 7:45pm
Every drove home and don’t remember how on earth you got there because you mind was replaying a conversation or planning on what you were doing for dinner? We spend up to 47% of our day with our minds somewhere other than in the present moment. Think of what all we are missing out on…so many of the small delights in life that make it sweet and joyous like the bold aroma of a lilac bush and what about the big stuff like making your child feel seen and heard by being completely present to their conversation. Being mindful means putting our attention on the present moment on purpose. This is a skill that can be learned and brought to everyday activities that will help you become more focused, engaged, and less reactive. And more importantly, mindfulness has been shown to improve your physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing and who wouldn’t want to be more calm, happier, and healthier?
Each week a new topic will be discussed along with a guided mindfulness practice. Topics and practices may include:
• What mindfulness is
• How to be mindful in your day-to-day life
• Dealing with sensations, thoughts, and emotions
• Past, present, and future thinking
• Breathing exercises
• Guided meditations
